Bookapocalypse and the difficulty of finding coffee in London

I was in town the other day with my lovely sister, and we were struggling to find anywhere remotely non-touristy for a coffee that wasn't already full in Central London. So we went to the S***bucks upstairs in the Charing Cross branch of Borders. It was pretty depressing. The shop has started selling those miniature chaise lounges that are the toilet roll warmer dolls of our time. Just stacks of purple and pink miniature chaise lounges, and miniature high heels.

On a good note, I discovered Shirley Jackson, who I hadn't heard of before. More on this at some point, non-existent reader.
